The Royal Canadian Mint has released a new pure gold coin in the shape of the Ukrainian Easter egg, pysanka, to celebrate the Ukrainian-Canadian culture. The fifth release of a series of coins in the shape of pysanka, this coin is struck in pure gold, unlike its previous releases.

Designed by Dave Melnychuk, the new pysanka-themed coin has a splendidly intricate design, featuring finely engraved details.

The reverse side of the new coin features a temple as a symbol of community. It shows several bands representing eternity frame the multi-tiered church. An inner band of dots and waves reflect Canada’s motto, “A Mari Usque Ad Mare” (“From Sea to Sea”). On the outer band, compass-like stars are paired with upended squares that represent the earth.

The obverse side displays an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

The new coin weighs 58.5g and produced in 99.99 pure gold. It has a limited mintage of 250 coins worldwide.
