The Royal Canadian Mint marked the 50th anniversary of Appollo 11 moon landing by releasing a new silver coin capturing the moment when mankind first set foot on the Moon. The new coin has a brilliant design featuring a rounded, convex shape reminiscent of the Moon.

The reverse of the new coin features the iconic scene when astronaut Neil Armstrong stepped out of the lunar lander Appolo 11 onto the surface of the moon. The landing module towers in the background. The memorable dates "1969" and "2019" and "50 years/ans" are engraved on the coin to indicate the passage of 50 years since this historic human accomplishment.

The message of peace written by Pierre Elliott Trudeau on a tiny silicone disk that was left on the Moon also appears on the edge of the coin.

The obverse of the coin displays an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, along with the monetary denomination of the coin, 25 dollars.

This coin is struck in 99.99 pure silver. It has a limited mintage of only 5,500 coins.
