The Austrian Mint has launched a new silver and copper collector coins for the New Year. The 2020-dated coins have the theme of commemorating the 150th anniversary of Vienna’s legendary Musikverein concert hall in 1870.

The reverse of this gorgeous coin features an image of the Greek god of music and dance, Apollo. In the background of Apollo appears the legendary Musikverein concert hall, which is highly considered to be one of the best and finest halls in the entire world. The image is taken from a frieze. Designed by artist August Eisenmenger (1830-1907), the image was found on the ceiling of the Golden Hall of Musikverein.

The obverse displays the crests of the nine federated states of the Republic of Austria, while the monetary denomination, 5, is placed in the center.

The silver version of this coin is crafted from 7.7g of 925 sterling silver. It has a limited mintage of only 50,000 coins. The copper coin is crafted from 8.9g, with a maximum limited mintage of 200,000 coins.
