In celebration of the Lunar Year of the rat, the Australian Perth Mint has released a brightly colored 1 oz silver proof coin featuring the endearing yellow minion clad in an adorable mouse costume. As the Chinese zodiac cycle starts anew in 2020, several mints around the world issued coins to celebrate this occasion.

People born in the year of the mouse are characterized by their intelligence and versatility. They are quick-witted and resourceful and tend to adapt to any situation they find themselves in.

The reverse of the new coin depicts a stylized Chinese lunar calendar image of a Minion wearing mouse ears and holding a mouse in his right hand against a background of cheese.

The obverse displays an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, along with the monetary denomination of the coin, 2 dollars, and year, 2020.

This coin is struck from one troy of 99.99 pure silver. It has a limited mintage of only 3,000 coins.

The coin is housed in a colorful gift card featuring a themed Minion pattern.
