The Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint) has released the latest and final addition to the popular Marianne coins series. While the pure silver coin is already available, the gold coin is due to enter circulation soon. This time around, the new coin carries the “fraternity“ theme. The theme of 2018 release was equality.

Since 2008, the Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint) has been issuing coins featuring major numismatic symbols of France. Previous coins featured the Sower, Hercules, and the Rooster, Monnaie. Monnaie de Paris has been paying tribute to Marianne since 2017. A major national symbol of France, Marianne personifies liberty and reason. It’s a portrayal of the Goddess of Liberty.


The reverse side of the new coin features Marianne wearing a Phrygian cap, a cockade and surrounded by dancing hands, symbolizing fraternity and unity in society. There is also an illustration of fraternity represented by letter "F", which appears next to the dancing hands. The reverse also shows "Faternité" inscription.

The obverse displays the denomination of the coin surrounded by two branches, and the inscription “République française“. The design is framed by stylized geometric hexagonal shapes.

Struck in .999 pure silver, the new silver coin has two variants. The first weighs 50g and has a diameter of 47.mm. Priced at 100 Euros, this coin has a limited mintage of 10000 pieces. The other version weighs 18g and has a diameter of 33mm. It has a limited mintage of 75000 pieces.

The gold coin is struck in 999 pure gold and has a limited mintage of 5000 pieces.
