The Royal Canadian Mint has released a new 2 oz fine silver coin featuring the iconic maple leaf coin with some dynamic optical effects on it by use of newly developed technology.

The reverse of the coin features the Silver Maple Leaf design from the Royal Canadian Mint’s bullion coinage, rendered using newly developed technology developed in collaboration with the Centre for Research in Photonics at the University of Ottawa.

The reverse and obverse field pattern reproduces an expanded, non-pulsating version of the pulsating pattern on the maple leaf. The iconic Silver Maple Leaf design on the reverse of this unique silver coin seems to pulsate when being tilted. The reverse shows the weight and quality of the metal.

The obverse displays an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. It also includes the monetary denomination of the coin, 10 dollars, and year, 2020.

This coin is struck from 2 ounces of highly pure 99.99 silver. It has a limited mintage of only 3000 coins.
