The Australian Perth Mint has released a new 99.99 pure gold coin featuring a crouching kangaroo. The kangaroo is considered to be a symbol of Australia.

Widely perceived as a part of Australian culture and its national image, the kangaroo appears on the Australian coat of arms, Qantas Airways, and Royal Australian Air Force.

The reverse side of the new coin displays a crouching kangaroo, with the coin's weight and fineness inscribed on the bottom of the coin. It also includes Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark to the right of the kangaroo's back.

The obverse displays an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark. Queen Elizabeth II, the issue date of the coin, and its monetary denomination were included around the outer rim of the coin.

The new coin weighs 0.5g.
