The first issue of the new series Australia's Coat of Arms bears a design inspired by the Commonwealth Coat of Arms. The motive features a kangaroo carrying a cub in its pouch and the Commonwealth star. Behind the kangaroo is flowering vegetation, which includes the floral emblem of each state. The denomination "ONE DOLLAR" is also included in the design. The reverse depicts an emu protecting its clutch of eggs. Unlike the obverse, the wattle on the reverse has not yet bloomed. This hints at a future full of potential to be exploited. The coin was struck by the Royal Australian Mint from one ounce of 99.9% silver with a mintage of only 50,000 pieces worldwide. The premium bullion coin is delivered in a protective capsule.
